Get Back Behind the Wheel

One failed test put your CDL on the sidelines. It does not have to keep it there. Reset Road pairs you with a DOT-qualified Substance Abuse Professional for a virtual evaluation, files your Clearinghouse report, and walks you through the return-to-duty process.

Every week you sit is a week you do not get paid

You know exactly what your status says. Prohibited. And you know what it means, because your dispatcher told you, or the recruiter told you, or the Clearinghouse told you when you logged in yourself.

Here is what that one word is actually costing you.

Your truck is parked and your income stopped.

No safety-sensitive function. No driving. No pre-trip, no fueling, no supervising a load. A driver averaging $1,400 a week loses roughly $5,600 a month sitting in prohibited status. Most drivers we talk to have already burned through savings by the time they call.

Your CDL itself is on the clock.

This is the part drivers miss. Since November 18, 2024, your state licensing agency is required to strip the commercial privileges off your license while you sit in prohibited status. That is a downgrade to a regular driver's license. Getting the CDL back means completing the return-to-duty process and then applying for reinstatement with your state. Waiting does not hold your place in line. It moves you backward.

Every carrier that runs your name sees it.

Employers have to query the Clearinghouse before they hire and once a year after. There is no version of this where you quietly move to another carrier and start over. The record follows you until the process is finished.

And everyone is telling you to hurry.

Your family wants to know when the money starts again. Your carrier wants to know when you are back on the board. You want this over with. That pressure pushes drivers into two bad decisions: picking whatever SAP the carrier hands them without comparing, or stalling because the whole thing feels too big to start.

The drivers who get back to work are not the ones with the cleanest record. They are the ones who started the Return to Duty Process.

The five steps from prohibited to driving

Reset Road handles steps 1 through 3. Steps 4 and 5 run through your employer, and we tell you exactly what to ask for so nothing stalls.

1
Initial evaluation

You meet your SAP over video. It runs about 60. Your SAP asks about your history, your test, and your circumstances, then determines what education or treatment you need.

2
Treatment or education

Your SAP writes a plan and gives you a list of qualified providers to choose from. Some drivers get an education course they can finish in less than a week. Others get a treatment program that runs longer.

3
SAP follow-up evaluation

When you finish your plan, you meet your SAP again. The SAP verifies you completed what was assigned, determines whether you are compliant, and if you are, sets your follow-up testing schedule.

4
Return-to-duty test

This one is on your employer. Your current or hiring carrier arranges a directly observed return-to-duty test and reports the negative result to the Clearinghouse.

5
Follow-up testing schedule

Your SAP prescribes at least six unannounced tests in your first 12 months back on the job, and can extend the schedule up to five years total. Your employer runs those tests and reports completion.

Why CDL drivers choose Reset Road

Fully virtual and available when and where you are.

No office visit. You do this from home, on your phone or computer. The DOT accepts it. Major carriers accept it. You just need a private space and decent wifi.

$450, Transparent Pricing

Call three SAP providers and most will not give you a price until they have you on the phone and can read your desperation. Ours is on the page. That $450 covers your initial evaluation, your follow-up evaluation, and Clearinghouse reports. No add-on for the follow-up, no add-on for filing.

Built around a driver's schedule

Your evaluation is virtual, so you can do it from the sleeper, from the house, or from a hotel. You need a private spot and a decent connection. We are open seven days a week because nobody schedules a failed test around business hours.

We file fast, because your clock is running

Your assessment date and your eligibility date go to the Clearinghouse by the close of the next business day, every time. Slow filing is one of the most common complaints drivers have about SAP providers, and it costs real weeks.

We know CDL work specifically

Long-haul, regional, local, owner-operator, school bus, motorcoach. We know what a 34-hour restart is, why you cannot just take a Tuesday afternoon off, and what your recruiter is going to ask for. You will not spend the first ten minutes explaining your job.

You pick your SAP

Your carrier may hand you a list. Federal rules give you the right to choose. A carrier-selected SAP works for the relationship with the carrier. Yours should work for you.

Nothing changes until you make the first call

The evaluation takes about 60 minutes. Most drivers working with Reset Road finish the return-to-duty process in a week. Every week you wait is a week of missed income. Start the evaluation online, or pick up the phone and talk to a real SAP today.
